Sunday, Pauls sister, Becky, her husband Scott and Cason and Camry joined us for a few days. We took in the Childrens Interactive Christmas Eve service at church that afternoon. It consists of the Pastor reading the Christmas Story and then the kids dress up as either Angels or Shepherds. Before the service they pre-pick Mary, Joseph, and the star. Seneca really had her heart set on playing Mary and was quite disappointed to hear they already had a Mary. She then agreed to be a shepherd. She walked up there all by herself and waited patiently for them to get her dressed (along with the 20 other kids) and stood nicely up front the entire time. Afterwords she asked me how come Cason and Camry didn't go up there. I told her that they probably didn't want to. She then says, "But we needed some sheep". Oh, Seneca, the things you say some times.
After church we came home to celebrate Senecas birthday with her family. Once again, she got lots and lots of stuff (dress up clothes, a tea set, play makeup, a Care Bear, ect.). Pauls mom made a Cinderella cake for Seneca. She loved it! By the time the party was over, it was time to get ready for Santa. Seneca wanted to leave him cookies and water (not milk, water) so we did just that.
Christmas morning we woke up nice and early, thanks to our cat, Gracie getting into everything! Seneca slept awhile longer and then decided to come out of her room. We didn't get the reaction we thought we would about Santa being there. She actually didn't seem too concerned. She went and checked the plate and glass she left out and that was it! No comment, nothing. When everyone awoke, we opened gifts. Lots more gifts for Seneca.....a bench that Grandma and Grandpa Hertel made with her name on it, a baby doll, coloring books, clothes, PJ's, and lots more. I received Scene It the DVD game, so you know what we did the rest of the afternoon.......It was a nice holiday and nice to be surrounded by friends and family. We didn't have a White Christmas but it sounds like the New Year is suppose to be filled with the white stuff starting tomorrow. I am sure Paul can't wait so he can use the snowblower we bought at my Grandparents auction this past fall.
